  • Basic Site Use

Using Mbif's Backgrounds is really quite simple! Click the buttons and links to get wherever you need to go; with a little exploration, you'll find everything you need on the site.

Using the codes is also very simple. Using your mouse, highlight the snippet of code that you need. Right-click is disabled on the site for copyright reasons, so you'll need to use the CTRL+C, APPLE+C, or Edit > Copy methods in order to copy coding. To paste, simply click wherever it is that you need the code inserted (your HTML editor, your edit profile area, etc.) and use CTRL+V, APPLE+V, or Edit > Paste.

Don't understand something here or need further clarification on site use? Make sure to stop by our FAQ, read the rest of the instructions, or contact us!

    Backgrounds

Need a background? We can help! From anywhere on the site, click "backgrounds" and you'll be taken to the appropriate area of the site. Use the navigation bar to your left to access the various sections, and copy the coding you need. Paste the coding on the site you need it, save your changes, and you should be set to go.

    Cursors

If you want to change the appearance of your site's cursor, you've come to the right place. From anywhere on the site, click "cursors." Use the navigation bar on your left to access various sections, and copy the coding you need. Paste the coding on the site you need it, save your changes, and your cursor should look entirely different than it did. No more boring arrow for you, my friend!

Please keep in mind that cursor coding is in CSS only, so our codes won't work if you're trying to use them in an HTML-only site or area. Additionally, cursors only appear watermarked while displayed on our site; you will not have the "mbif.net SAMPLE" text on you cursor. Finally, the Firefox browser does not support custom cursors.

    Midis

From anywhere on the site, click "Midis" and you'll be taken to the appropriate area of the site. Use the navigation bar to your left to access the various sections, and copy the coding you need. Paste the coding on the site you need it, save your changes, and you should have music the next time you view your page. If the "standard" code doesn't work, try using the "alternate" code instead.

Please note that Subeta does not permit the use of midi music. The same can hold true with other sites as well.

    Text and Effects

Changing your text is easy! From anywhere on the site, click "Text and Effects." Use the navigation bar to your left to access the various sections, and copy the coding you need.

You can change a lot of the coding in these codes -- replace question marks (?) with hex codes from one of our color charts to change your text color or the colors of effects. Font names, sizes, table widths, effect strengths, fade strengths, fade types, and more can all be altered to suit your tastes -- just change the name or number.

It is important to note that not all effects will work with all sites or browsers; you will need to experiment a bit to see if your desired effect will function in the place and manner you want it to.

    Submissions & Alterations

Do you have a background, cursor, or other contribution you'd like to see placed on the site? Simply send us an email with your submission/contribution as an attachment; make sure to include your name or username so that we can credit you, and be sure to let us know if you'd like it altered somehow. We'll contact you once your submission has been placed OR if we cannot use it for some reason.

We can alter pre-existing site content for you! Send us an email and let us know which image you'd like changed and how, and we'll do our best to fulfill your request. Please note that our alteration abilities are limited and extensive alterations may not be possible. However, we can easily grayscale, fade, seamlessly tile, or invert the image. We can also do complete color-changes -- for example, we can turn a red rose background pink, or make a unicorn background blue.

We generally will not do requests ("I want you to make me a sock background!") unless otherwise specified in a section's news. Please read the FAQ for more information on custom content.
